Hello, I'm Jason.

dotjasonhwang is my online tag. The "dot" is a reference to software dotfiles. On this site I write about my projects and thoughts.

I started Soar Scholars (2026), an SAT prep academy. In 2026 I'm focusing on delivering results via private lessons. In 2027 I will start group classes.

I started ROK Websites (2025), a freelance web agency. In 2026 I'm building Astro websites for 5 businesses. In 2027 I will build 5 more websites.

I started Aspire Coding Academy (2025), a coding academy for middle school students. In 2025 I taught 25 students Python and JavaScript. In 2026 I put this idea on pause. In 2027 I will decide if I want to resume.

From 2020 to 2025 I was a full-time software engineer. I developed full-stack web & mobile applications at Appian, and worked on data-ingestion engines at Two Sigma. I continue to develop my own software for my current ventures.

I enjoy writing. Before 2026 I used to write pieces more often. In 2026 I started opening my paper journal more often, and started a blog on this site. In 2027 I will keep writing.

I run and lift. In high school I ran cross country and indoor track. I just ran, like Forest Gump, but unlike him I was not fast. I stopped running for 5 years. I recently started running again, and in 2026 I ran my first half-marathon, and also will be running my second half-marathon. In 2027 I'm going to run a marathon. I'm also considering drumming, Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai as hobbies.
