I’ve been using Claude Code regularly for about two years, and I use Gemini for most of my other AI stuff. Aside from the outages, Claude Code is still magical to me, and Gemini seems to be getting good enough at most of my web activities. Those are really the two AI tools I interface with directly with high confidence. I am confident that the usefulness of different AI-native solutions will continue to grow.
One thing I’ve felt consistently for the past few years is this: I can’t help but be amused by the enormous range of perspectives on AI by those around me. I find it amusing not in a disparaging way, but in a perplexing way. It’s like that thing in life where everyone looks at the same thing but seeing something different.
I think for one, marketing (the respectable kind, and also the grifting side) has a big part to do with it. Naturally, as the biggest technological disruption of the century, the money is flowing here, and the market is reacting accordingly. It’s unfortunate that some parties take manipulative measures to attract media attention. It’s even more unfortunate that some ill-intended people take tasteless measures to leverage the AI craze for personal profit (social media gurus… hmm…), at others’ cost. On the bright side, I see plenty of life-giving usages of AI, and ultimately I am convinced that we have nothing to fear, for even in the age of artificial things, truth remains truth and will always prevail.
