As a child I loved building with Kapla blocks. In grade school I watched Iron Man and realized software is super cool. Jarvis was the coolest thing ever. Crazy that he kind of exists today. This is not relevant for this blog topic, but in that movie I also found that quote that I think is cool - “Jarvis, sometimes you got to run before you can walk”. Cheesy but cool.
Looking back in my childhood, I can see that engineering was a core interest from the beginning. I liked that I could take natural and raw material, and via calculation, bring about something more ordered and capable. I still remember the awe I had during my algorithms classes in college. It was cool how problems and solutions had artistic patterns. For a long time, I thought that patterns and calculations were integral and uncompromisable in the life I wanted to build. As a result, at some point I decided that I was not a fan of risk in general. Why leave things up to chance when I could search for a more calculated path forward?
After just a short 2 years of entrepreneurship, I find that I have a totally different view of problem solving. I strive for motion and attempts, rather than thoughts and preserving. I understand time in seasons and flow, rather than hours and minutes. And for these changes I am thankful. I’m having a lot of fun in my day to day work. It’s very possible I may think otherwise in a busier period, as I’m still chasing for business rather than trying to keep up growth. The funny thing is that I still consider myself to be quite methodical, and have a certain plan for a measured growth in my ventures. Time will tell how I view things in a few years.
