They say that a good chef keeps his kitchen clean. Organization and hygiene play a part in the final result. Software is, unsurprisingly, quite a ways removed from the culinary arts. The very nature of software means developers aren’t confined as much to the same concept. Unlike the relatively permanent, static location of an established kitchen, computer configurations and workspaces are ever changing. It should come as no surprise that a good developer then, should have a setup (both physical and virtual) that is adept to change. Flexibility beats guardrails, more often than not.
Although I’m a tech guy, I’m also a bit of an organization guy, for better or for worse. I enjoy keeping my digital kitchen clean, in my dotfiles and general file organization. It has, for me, been a way for me to allow me to move quickly. So I thought dot[my name] would be an apt way to name my website and online profiles. A digital kitchen that I like to keep clean.
